The Oaks

I’ve been enjoying the sound stylings of Orlando, Florida based band The Oaks for some time now.  Their smooth melodies and intricate harmonies have a way of soothing me when I am in a foul mood.  The band had its beginnings back in 2001 a couple of weeks before 9/11 when lead singer Ryan Costello sold everything he owned, joined a humanitarian organization and moved to Afghanistan to work with returned refugees.  He returned to the States two years later armed with countless nights sitting around and working out his impressions on what he had seen and heard that day on acoustic guitar.  His late night acoustic sessions in Afghanistan then grew over the years since his return forming into a six piece band that call themselves The Oaks.
